LLC Creation

I started this business after becoming a casualty of a large staff reduction at the company I was at for 24 years. No hard feelings. Having been around that long I understood that financial circumstances can lead to such occurrences. I survived many of them leading up to the one that got me. They were good to me, supported my family, and got my kids into their careers.

I love the process of design and I wasn't ready to put it aside. It's a difficult process and you rarely get to a point of satisfaction without having to troubleshoot and resolve problems. That said there is no better moment when you see that creation come to life and do what it was you intended it to do. I've had the opportunity to do that countless times.

I'm going to apologize up front for the length that follows. I think if you're here to potentially hire me you should have a good idea what you're considering buying. I think you will understand how I'm not just a CAD guy or some other fellow with some tools. Engineering is an accumulation of knowledge and practice. I owe you an understanding of how I got to where I am now. More importantly, how I can apply those things to get you what you want.

After earning my degree in mechanical engineering I knew I wanted to design products. I started by accumulating knowledge at a diverse set of companies. I learned each companies products and how they developed and sold them.

I got my first job working with anti-friction bearings. I learned so much about manufacturing from that company dealing with parts to sometimes 5th decimal place dimensional control. I got exposure to materials processed to cleanliness standards most will never experience. I learned about material heat treatment to produce complex grain structures and withstand incredible stress levels. These products have bearing races machined to complex shapes and ground and honed to produce mirror like finish.

Eventually I moved on to other companies where I learned sheet metal fabrication, further machine operations, assembly, welding, and more. I worked in high volume automotive at a company that was highly regarded for producing interior trim components for the top level vehicle platforms. I dealt with cutting edge injection molding, assembly processes, RF Welding of Vinyl, mold behind inserts, flex circuit electronics packaging, forming wood veneer inserts. I got to peer behind the scenes of the automotive design studios where pictures lead to clay that lead to finished products. At another company I developed electromechanical mechanisms that were coupled with electronics controls to automate bumper bowling so kids and adults could bowl on the same lane as a family.

I finished my company career cycle (the 24 year one) by continuing to work on mechanisms for heavy trucking air ride suspension systems. These vehicle systems were for class 8 trucks with capacities starting at 20000 pounds per axle and going to beyond 30000 pounds. Those vehicles are tortured in practice on logging roads, mining operations and sugar cane fields to name a few. I designed component systems for those high loads and fatigue tested to prove they could last for years in punishing use. I learned the mechanics of collecting and post processing multiple channels of data (enormous data sets). Those were to capture strains, vibrations, displacement and other to understand suspension behavior. I eventually managed a product development department for 8 years. Along the way I led projects through all stages of product life cycle.

Having been through all that I know that I can help you achieve whatever it is that you want to do. I'm here to do whatever it is you need. I don't care the scale. If its something small and simple I'll just knock it out. If you need something more complex I am not afraid to take it on. I'll get you to where you need to go. Just get in touch and I'll figure out how to do it.
